Pilgrim
Somewhere in the hills, far away
A contrite soul rang the temple bells vehemently.
The sound of salvation stirred in me
A surreal, unfathomable longing for a land
Never seen, heard or felt.
The bells echoed and echoed and,
With every vibration my soul leapt within.
My ears wrapped up the resonance...
I don't remember what omen fired my soul
To traverse rugged, unseen, unheard mountains.
But I did traverse them.
That's what I know for sure.
And that I rang the bells
Of an old dilapidated temple,
Like a frenzied pilgrim
Who has finally kissed nirvana..
