Paint Your Own Picture

I painted a picture.
One where nature was banal
where green and yellow;
red, blue and brown seemed to know
where to splutter.
One where I failed to see
The beauty in its mundanity.
Then the canvas I tore
To start afresh a painting
where every hue would
echo my screaming thoughts
and every stroke sing my song.

Paint your own picture
One where the seas are yellow;
The mountains red, the valleys blue;
The skies green, the birds purple;
And the trees, dense black.
Because stories not told
in their pristine form
create a rendezvous in the head
and tarries, till sleepless nights
and troubled soul
your companions be.
